Every year, many mothers and newborns lose their lives due to preventable complications during pregnancy and childbirth. To reduce these numbers, the HERE4YOU Foundation organized the Gombe Hospital maternity outreach on January 24, 2021, at the Maternity Ward in Butambala District. The outreach focused on creating awareness about safe delivery practices, maternal health, and newborn care.
The foundation team received a warm welcome from the hospital administration and the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Sulaiman Butcher. Together with hospital staff, the team discussed the importance of antenatal visits, nutrition, and access to skilled healthcare services. Support from members and community well-wishers made it possible to donate essential maternity items such as cotton, gloves, baby clothes, sheets, diapers, buckets, and soap to every mother in the ward.
Beyond the donations, foundation members actively participated in cleaning the hospital premises. This joint effort enhanced hygiene, promoted teamwork, and encouraged a cleaner environment for both patients and staff. The outreach team also demonstrated proper waste management and hygiene practices, empowering hospital patrons with knowledge they could apply daily.
The event ended with heartfelt appreciation from the hospital leadership and mothers who benefited from the initiative. Foundation members felt honored to serve and inspired to continue championing maternal health. The visit also motivated new volunteers to join HERE4YOU Foundation’s mission of uplifting communities through compassion and service.
Through the Gombe Hospital maternity outreach, the foundation continues to advocate for safe motherhood, healthier families, and a more caring society—proving that every act of kindness creates a ripple of hope and change.
