Empowering Girls Through Sports and Mentorship
On 3rd September 2023, Here4You Foundation held its annual Charity Sports Gala, themed “Play It for Her.” The event took place at Buddo Secondary School Arena, bringing together teams, supporters, and community members for a day filled with energy, teamwork, and purpose.
The H.E.R Initiative, led by the Here4You Foundation, focuses on guiding, empowering, encouraging, and mentoring young adolescent girls in primary and secondary schools. It believes that every girl deserves an opportunity to grow, learn, and achieve her dreams.
Competitions and Community Engagement
The Charity Sports Gala featured exciting team games such as football, netball, and volleyball. In addition, participants enjoyed fun individual activities like sack racing, balloon bursting, bottle filling, board games, tug of war, and eating competitions. Each contest encouraged unity, confidence, and friendly competition.
Winners proudly took home trophies, medals, certificates, and a cash prize of 300,000 UGX. These rewards celebrated effort, teamwork, and resilience — qualities that mirror the spirit of empowerment the foundation stands for.
Health and Social Impact
Beyond the sports activities, the event included free medical services such as blood donation, eye checkups, HIV testing, and blood pressure screening. These health sessions emphasized the importance of well-being, reinforcing the foundation’s belief that a healthy body supports a healthy mind.
Uplifting Adolescent Girls Through the H.E.R Initiative
All proceeds from the Play It for Her Charity Sports Gala went directly to supporting the H.E.R Project. Through this program, the foundation provides mentorship, education, and life skills to young adolescent mothers who face difficult circumstances. The initiative continues to open doors for girls to access guidance, resources, and opportunities for a brighter future.
